Stocking up for doomsday
I'm not sure this couple have done the right thing about advertising their stash but it's interesting to see talk of a possible total collapse in the mainstream media.

What a bunch of plonkers - first and biggest mistake telling the entire world about their stash.
Also if everything does go badly wrong and there's no electricity how are they going to run their freezer and what are they going to do with so much washing powder?
If you are going to do something like this, probably better off going down the army ration pack route (a 24hr pack contains enough calories to last a civvy 2 days). With tins or freeze dried food (nothing perishable), bottles of water (and/or rainwater tank and purification kit) and a hexi stove for cooking. Forget stuff like washing powder or dishwasher tablets...
Final thing, not wishing to sound like some sort of survivalist mentalist, but tell no-one about the stash. Even telling your kids is risky in case they tell their friends."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. It's like 2008 all over again, where is Luvpump?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. The fact that you've thought about it in that much depth suggests to me you are a survival mentalist.
Edit: anyway this stuff doesnt bother me that much. In the event of the apocalypse I would just find a plump housing bear from hpc and steal his stash. And if he wouldnt give it to me I would eat him.0 -
only the DM could come up with this type of scaremongering that looks (and probably was) cobbled together by a 19yr old intern with a wikipedia account.0

Darn you caught me out, now I'll have to kill you to keep my secret safe
I gave it a fair bit of thought after the fuel strikes and the blackouts in the states. I'm a hiker/camper so know a lot about different stoves and food rations anyway.
I could survive another a fuel strike (is it already 11 years since that happened) as I've got about a week or two's worth of food in the house."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. I saw this, I thought it was awesome and actually quite good advise. If bank accounts pay 3% and food prices rise 5% per year then if you buy ahead arent you making good use of your money
Obviously if you have 100k you may need more thought though the scheme works best if you own your own home I reckon also0 -

Considering no one starved on the streets in the UK even during the second world war or the great depression, I dont think its too likely.0 -
