were you told you had to complete records for all transactions (I'm thinking yes as you were aware you hadn't been doing it)
did you not do this (I'm thinking you didn't otherwise they'd have been able to trace the likely error source)
"It's everyone else's fault" will not wash. Especially as you are on probation.
If it was a large sum of money, I would expect the worst.Debt free 4th April 2007.

If you hadn't completed a record for every transaction, does that mean there is more money in your cash drawer than there should be?
I have to admit, I'm confused! Do you need training to know that every transaction needs to be recorded? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Why didn't you and your boss do a full till check together at the end of the night?
Remember your manager signed of the paperwork, so what were they signing to say? It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
If no-one else had access to your till there is not going to be much you can do about this. I hope you've been in contact with your union about the allegation.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I'm afraid that I must agree. From your own version of accounts you knew that transaction records had to be made for every transaction and you say that you didn't do this because you were in a rush in order to down the queues. So you both knew that you should record everything and that you didn't. That isn't a training issue, that is an issue of negligence on your part. Sorry, but there is no other interpretation to put on what you have said. It may not have been with any ill-intent, but it doesn't need to be for this to be a disciplinary matter. Given that you have worked there three months and are still under probation, I cannot see any other likely outcome than dismissal.
That said, resigning is simply not an option in these circumstances. The money is missing and whilst there may not be enough evidence for a police prosecution - assuming that the employer is wont to involve the police - the circumstantial chain of coincidences is pretty damning, in that money has gone missing, you haven't been keeping proper records, and the CCTV happens to have gone down at the time. If we were to talk about a test of "reasonable belief" - which is all the employer needs - you aren't in a strong position at all. And being dismissed on these grounds will ensure that you never work in the financial sector again, so you have little option but to try to defend what has happened here. But I would echo Emmzi's advice - don't try to shift the blame. It won't wash and it won't go in your favour. Sanitise your version - "I haven't yet been able to go on the training because we have been so busy and there hasn't been time to fit it in", etc. I have to be honest that I don't have high hopes that even this will prevent your dismissal, but blaming others certainly won't.0 -
sorry, but it looks like you need a new position. after 3 months probationary they are doubtful to extend your employment even if the mistake is rectified.0
