Look Good ... Feel Better for Women Cancer patients.

I mentioned this in a reply to another thread but can't remember seeing it mentioned in its own thread before.

Its a bit different from the usual freebies posted and apologies if its been posted before.

Basically its programme for Breast cancer patients going through Chemo.

edit ... the programmes not just for Breast cancer patients going through Chemo, but is for women with cancer. Check the links for info.

Patients get a free course on make-up and skin care etc and dealing with the effects of Chemo.

They also get a great gift bag full of goodies, make-up, skincare, perfumes etc. All are full size expensive brand items. A very worthwhile gift.

I went along with a family member who had breast cancer, I got to make the teas etc.

The course was really good and clearly had a very positive effect on the patients.

The goodie bag was fantastic, no-one could believe what they'd been given.

Nearest one is miles away from my mum, doubt she'd feel like going anyway though tbh. Shame she can't get a goodie bag anyway.

I live in Liverpool. It's a shame there is nowhere close to me.
I will keep an eye out though in case it expands.

I spoke to a lot of the women who went to the session and I think its very common to 'not feel like going'.

Before they went a lot had thought it was not really relevant for them as they weren't really 'make-up' people, or they weren't planning any big outings so wouldn't need it etc etc.
However they were all surprised and enjoyed the day.

It seemed that getting together in a group of people in a similar position had a really profound, positive effect.

Some had travelled for several hours to get there but said it was definetely worth the journey as they'd had such a good morning.

If its possible you should try and persuade your mum to go, maybe arrange the travel for her, make a good day out etc, the sessions are a lot more than just a bit of free make-up, they can have an incredible effect that you wouldn't expect.

Ooh, I might have solved it. Were you looking in 'North West' maryotuam? I found this in 'North' Royal Liverpool University Hospital
    The Linda Mc Cartney Centre
    Royal Liverpool University Hospital
    Prescot Street
    Liverpool
    L7 8XP

and there's one in Manchester at the Christie hospital where my mum is actually being treated, so she may even have heard about this and said she doesn't want to. I will ask her about it when I go over. Thanks Hermann.
