advice about benefits while doing an apprenticship

Hi all,
will doing an apprenticship effect any of the benefits me and my partner currently recieve??
i work 22 hours a week, and we get working tax, council tax and housing benefit. The apprenticship will be earning us an extra £100 a week, but the lady at the college said today that it will be tax free and national insurance free... im a little confused about the whole thing to be honest. Thanks
