I'd email them, and tell them that they've delivered the goods by error, and could they either arrange a courier to pick them up on one of the following dates (give them a selection of dates), or send you the sum of £x which will cover special delivery postage, packaging, and 1 hour of your time at minimum wage to go and post them.

McKneff, either you have a fantastic local post office, or haven't been in one before! The only ones I've been in have long queues, and often lousy parking, so it's highly inconvenient!

I think OP has already done this if i remember his opening post correctly.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Yes, they did, but the company didn't agree to either, so best to put it in writing again giving the two options, then leave it at that, and if they want their goods back, they've been given two fair options.

Resending covers the OP's back should the company try anything dodgy!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Used to happen to me all the time with those dammned book clubs when I was in the RAF,especially when I went to Germany.I'd receive my club letter & I'd return the opt out slip for the book of the month the next day but a couple of days later, the book of the month would turn up in the Squadron mail room.
So I'd write to them (again!) telling them not to send me anything unless I ordered it & if they wanted the book back, then they should pay for it's return as it wasn't my fault that the mails crossed in the post.
Even worse when I got to Germany, quite often the book of the month would arrive before the monthly newsletter...Soon cancelled the thing tho!
  • It's not unsolicited goods as they just have been sent by mistake.

However it's up to the company to go to the efforts to get them back, you should not be expected to pay for postage or have to take time off work or go to the post office.

You just need to inform them that the package is available for collection and you'll be in (say) Mon-Fri 5pm - 10pm, for courier collection, you shouldn't have to go to any more trouble than is reasonable.
  • Thanks for all your replies, definitely useful to hear what other people think. I've emailed the company again outlining the two options and I'll now wait to hear from them to see what happens. As an aside it makes me laugh that the company said I could buy the trainers at a reduced price of £60, I went on the website today and they are £59.95!
  • Why is there a need for compensation? I got an item a couple of weeks ago that was faulty. I happily dropped it off at a shop to return it. No big deal!

Not the same thing at all, I personally hardly ever go by a post office so I wouldn't take it.

It wasn't a PO. It wasn't somewhere I go normally...it resolved the problem...it was sorted without spending time repeatedly typing on a forum explaining myself.

That's great, but not everyone has the time or is willing to put thereselves out when it's not their mistake.

There isn't any need for compensation, but nor should the OP be out of pocket both in terms of money or more than a reasonable amount of their time.

And if you've bought it from (say) Amazon, going to drop it off at the local Amazon shop?
