I have just bought a free standing oven shelf from wilkinsons.
It sits at the bottom of the oven and cost me four quid.
My oven only has one shelf and now I will be able to cook more things in the oven at the same time.
I thought this might help someone, especially over Christmas when we could all do with more oven space.

You can also get extending ones that work like a normal oven shelf (from Betterware). I had one when we only had one oven shelf, then we moved and I gave it to my Dad. Now I have a wider oven with two shelves but I quite fany one of these freestanding ones. Shame there's no Wilko's near here, mind you, if I had more shelves I'd bake even more and that's not good!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Thank you farf. I've just googled this and it looks brilliant. Although I've got two shelves (even though mine's a cheapo oven) this would be really useful. I never like putting dishes straight onto the oven bottom when I need 3 layers. I'll get to Wilkos PDQ.0

Lifechanging!
Today I cooked lasagne, moussaka, cauli cheese and a crumble in my oven at the same time.
Obviously not in the same dish.
(Maybe I need to get out more)0 -
If you've got an oven with a bottom element you shouldn't put anything directly on the floor of the oven, so I was told when the bottom element in my oven went. Since then I've bought an adjustable shelf and have used the rack out of the grill pan placed on the oven floor when I've needed extra space, you do need to watch that the bottom of whatever you're baking doesn't burn.0

I used it in my gas oven with no problems at all.0 -
We got one of those too, it's surprising the difference an extra shelf makes!0
