If I'm already register as self employed for one job, and then start a second buisness doing something different, do I need to tell the tax office, or just submit a second tax return in april?

No, you only register once as a sole trader.
When the time comes to complete your tax return, you may want to separate the two income streams or combine them, depending how much money is involved.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Register once, fill in a separate section for self employment for each business come self assessment time. Easier if you do it online as it saves you photocopying.0
