Ideally one with hands but no tic toc.
If I have to I'll get an LCD one like this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=34907&criteria=clock&doy=9m10
which is probably silent, but it's not my first choice.
Cheers!

I'd like one of those as well please. I had a wall clock in my son's bedroom and it was that loud that I removed the batteries! Will keep checking your post to see if anybody has found one.If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
Why practice!:T0 -
I like clocks that tick but quietly. I'm sure it has an impact on the brains sense of time0

They have radio controlled clocks in Argos, cheaper than that one. they start at under a tenner.
Radio controlled are the best clocks (IMO) as they automatically adjust in the spring and autumn when the clocks go forward/back. They are also silent!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
We have five radio controlled clocks round our house which came from argos, they are white with black numerals and operate on batteries and about 10" across, (like a school clock). When you install the batteries, the clock automatically sets itself, but don't worry if it stops every few hours for a second or two, don't know why they do that, perhaps they're have a breather. Once the correct time is located, that's it. It automatically adjusts when we "change the hour" and maybe every 18 months, we change the battery.
Oh, they are SILENT!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Main reason I want one is that I have a recording studio in my very small attic. I bought a radio-controlled clock from a professional studio suppliers and surprisingly that wasn't silent at all so I sent it back - do you know for certain that the Argos one will be quiet, consultant31?
Some people think I'm nuts wanting a totally silent wall clock but I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Anyway, LCD ones are probably silent but it would be nice to have one with hands...0 -
Thanks for the confirmation islandman, I'll check them out...0

Actually there are three or four at Argos. Is it any of these:

My mum has a radio controlled one - definitely silent & very amusing to watch when you first put it up, the time was all over the place until it settled now after an hour or so0

The one I have is silent. It's actually none of those you've linked to, but I've had it about 3 years now.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Ours from Argos is STAIGER but identical to the main one on the Argos site.
What I would say is, remember you can return items to Argos within 14 days (I think), so if it fails the test...........................Ours is definately silent. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
