  • I don't think the criticism is unfair, obviously we are brokers, and any broker worth their salt will dispute non advised sales. In my opinion these are only OK if your client is an accountant or some other professional with a good reason to know what they are doing.

There isnt criticism of them on there. The only points made are that they are brokers the same as other brokers and that their pricing can be beaten.

If someone is going to go execution only and the commission is £800 and they are only getting £400 back, then they ought to look to a local broker and ask them what fee they would charge for an execution only case. Chances are it would be lower than £400 with all commission rebated.

In addition you could well save more than the cashback just by getting a better deal first time around.

  • How do you know simonbh is the owner of the company?

The internet is such a small world these days with so many free tools.

After mentioning MBM quite a few time, Payless asked simonbh7 if he was anything to do with MBM... he answered no, a graphic designer. As can be seen here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=3164941&postcount=97

MM, you then asked if he was freelance but he said no as can be seen here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=3165143&postcount=101

However, simonbh7's fools account, which he's also used to mention MBM (against there rules too I think?), shows that he's a company director as can be seen here: http://boards.fool.co.uk/Profile.asp?uid=126824269

A few other quick searches reveals that one of the directors of MBM (Quay FS Ltd) is Simon F Edgar and lives in BH7. I will not post the full search however an abreveated version can be seen here: http://www.b4usearch.com/index.cfm?event=search_findPerson:Display&who=simon%20edgar%20&where=bh7

I see that the other director, Anthony Chewins, has also been pumping MBM on fools. He changed his user name from chewins to fsr1 but must have not realised that fools keeps a track of previous user names as can be seen here: http://boards.fool.co.uk/Profile.asp?uid=3773385 and here: http://boards.fool.co.uk/Message.asp?mid=10229614&sort=whole#10229986

Self advertising your services as a happy client is the lowest of the low.

If you have confidence in your business model then join in with the topics and don't lie about who you are. You will gain far more respect posting help on the forums and it would benefit the industry and your business more by being upfront, helpful and truthful.

Maybe I am wrong, but in the event of my death, my wife would continue to own the buy to lets. The rent covers the mortgage costs so I really do not see the need for life cover.

Very true, but she would also have the debts remaining on the property and if it was my wife I would rather her have the debt paid off so she gains access to the FULL value of the property on sale rather than having to pay the mortgage company back some of the money. I also question whether I would want my wife having to look after a number of properties and tenants on her own.

Each to their own, and as I say the above is common place with investors. Personally I think it is a short sighted view especially when the life cover cost is normally covered by the rent and life rates are decreasing, so the cover is cheap as chips.

What can I say, I'm very impressed with your investigative skills. Didn't realise MBM were that desperate for business they had to scrounge around forums to get clients.:rotfl:
