  • Hi. The asda coupons (grocery ones) in the magazine do work/scan on the tills. They even work on Tesco tills!

Whether you can use them is another issue. The general ASDA policy seems to be they will only accept coupons produced by manufacturers (how much depends on store) when not buying the product. Most ASDA stores have a policy of not accepting their own brand coupons unless buying the product. You may get away with it if you have a nice assistant, do a very big shop and let them think you bought the items somewhere in there or if you use the self scan and they do not stop you.

As for the nicotinell ones I am pretty sure they do not work and need to be put in manually. I doubt you will get away with it as they will check you have bought the item before bothering to input £5 off manually.

    Hope that helps.
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!

these do scan in tesco no problem:j
  • The £5 Nicotinell ones scan fine at Asda and don't have to be added manually. I've used them on self scan and on the normal checkouts. (Young male sales assistant looked like he had the worst hangover ever and just scanned everything I gave him lol)
  • I have used quite a few nicotinell at Asda on self scan, only one at a time though, they scan no probs without buying.

I used another Nicotinell one at Tesco yesterday, it scans without any problems. I include one in a handful of other manufacturers' coupons and has not been turned down yet in Tesco, it's an NCH coupon and presumably redeemable by them.

I have not offered it in Asda though. I know Asda don't usually accept their own magazine vouchers without you buying the product and their cashiers might be more likely to be aware that this one comes from their magazine.

On the other hand, the Lindt chocolate bunny 30p off ones from the leaflet inside the Tesco magazine don't scan in Tesco (unless you buy the product I guess) but they are happily accepted at my local Asda and Waitrose as they are non-store-specific. There's no reason why they can't redeem that sort of coupon for a small profit, so no reason for shoppers not to offer them IMHO.

Have had the £5 voucher accepted twice in Asda on £6 shops and only ever refused once in Tesco.

  • I dont usually shop instore at asda i usually do it online
  • I work as asda and we are told we aren't meant to accept the ones from the asda mag unless you are buying the product. However some don't know that. Plus we are only mean't to accept coupons up to 10% of the bill.
