Help!

Just wondered what others have done/ bought to replace the insoles in EMU/ Ugg boots?

I read the reviews for the EMU brand ones on QVC and they're pretty scathing :(

I've worn my EMUs to death this year and the inside fleecey sole is worn to bits; I want to replace them as cheaply as I can (the insoles not the boots!) - any ideas??

Thanks!

Do you mean the insoles or the soles? The soles are the rubbery part you walk on and I don't think can be replaced or mended (some can be mended if they tear away from the sole but the majority cannot).

If your talking about the insoles and specificly want Emu insoles I haven't seen them anywhere but QVC, Amazon and Ebay and none are less then £15 odd a throw. Otherwise you can get insoles from Celtic sheepskin or Ugg but neither are as firm as the Emu versions and can gather up in an uneven clump as you walk- don't bother glueing them in its just a nasty mess!

I'd stick with Emu insoles if you have Emu boots as they'd fit better but as for cost, no deals AFAIK.
  • Apologies, I did indeed mean insoles (doh!).

Will give the EMU ones a go, was hoping for some fantastic cheaper alternative though - can't win 'em all I guess!!

    Many thanks,

Emu's looked a lot sturdier when I saw them but are £15 or there abouts. Not sure if they'd fit all boots or just Emu boots though.

Think Ugg Austrailia have insoles but they are around £25 odd and I've no idea what they are like as I've never seen them before.

Celtic sheepskins insoles were about £6 a year or so ago but not sure what they are now. I found they were great quality skins but just crumpled onto a ball as I walked and so were very trickly to get right! I tried gluing them to a normal insole but they didn't stay put (and yes I did use superglue).

Tesco/Sainsburys and etc have Kiwi insoles and they do fleece inoles. Not anywhere near the same as fluffy sheepskin (and not actually natural either which doesn't sound like a big deal -but just a few days of them in my boots and my feet no longer stayed foot-smell free!)

Hope you find something that works out OK.

ASOS have the UGG ones...I bought some a while back and my UGGs now feel like I've got new ones.

Hi how did you remove the old insoles? I can't seem to get mine out!

With Uggs you can't get the old insoles out (bit of a design flaw I think but for them I'd imagine they'd be wanting you to just buy a whole new boot instead!) With Emu you can take the insoles out no problem at all, its as if they are designed for this purpose. I really wish Emu boots worked for me (they don't fit as my heel is too narrow and my foot just slips all the time :() they just seem to be well thought out in more ways then the Ugg (all aside from the fit that is.)

I just left them in and put the new ones on the top of the old. My old insoles were really worn down though and were barely there in places so it wasn't too much of a difference leaving them in. Felt a bit tight the first time I wore them but doesn't anymore
  • Thanks everyone. I will buy the EMU insoles and will post back and let everyone know what they're like.
