Spotted this at Dixons this morning http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/sensiohome-day-at-the-zoo-waffle-maker-10983368-pdt.html
not sure how good it will be, ordered one as my daughter has been on about getting a waffle iron for ages but i had always said no as i didn't think it would get used that much, but for £4.99 i can't really argue
also they have this http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/sensiohome-stwp001-whoopie-pie-maker-10983406-pdt.html
both with free standard delivery

Ordered! ...and that was one of two things on my Christmas list (not with zoo shapes, but a waffle maker) - although the children have made me promise to forget about it!
Looks like it makes decent sized squares as well- not the mini squares that some electric ones do. Hope so!
Thanks OP

Squares *in* the waffles - for maple syrup! We bought a cheap waffle maker from Lidl and it made what ended up like a 'waffle' ice cream cone, and really didn't work for breakfast... so have been on the lookout for a cheaper one to do the breakfast kind ever since.

I didnt know either and had to google it - " A whoopie pie is a sweet baked item which is a cross between a soft biscuit, a cake and a pie. It is made up of two round pieces of cake-like biscuits (cookies)......"0
