Interview whilst in employment

Hello Everyone,

Im looking for your thoughts/advice please.

I have been in employment at the same company for coming up to five years.

Over the last few months I have been getting increasingly frustrated at the Directors of the company treating me like rubbish and taking me for granted. I am fed up of working for people I have no respect for.

Two weeks ago I re-did my CV and after looking at the (very few) jobs out there, I emailed my CV across to one company.

They have asked me to come in for an interview. However, I am at work that day and my assistant manager is off also.

As much as I need to go to this interview, I don't want to leave my team in the lurch and if possible, I would like to leave the company on good terms.

Do I go to the interview and "be ill" - the first sick day in four years?

Or do I ask for alternative interview times? How can I word this without coming across the wrong way?

Thanks in advance everyone x:)

Phone the person who sent the invitation.
I'd suggest saying the time is difficult and could you have an appointment early or late in the day (preferably early).
This means you could arrive late for your work but not take the whole day off - and it's easier to arrive late than to get away early.

If you are "ill" and get caught, you won't need to worry about any more interviews because you will probably be sacked. Either work around it or tell the truth - but never lie.

Fake tooth ache, tell your work you have managed to get a dentist appointment at short notice, so would it be OK if you took half day holiday.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
