Two mortgages

Currently i have a residential mortgage on my flat. I put a deposit down at the time of 36%. I may consider moving in with my partner in a few years time but don't really want to lose this property and would possibly consider a buy to let mortgage transfer. The mortgage at the moment is £495 on a 5 year fix (before my monthly overpayments) and furnished flats that are similar to mine (two bedrooms, two bathrooms, carparking etc) go for around £850-£900p.m.
Now if i did this and became a joint mortgage holder with my partner on a different property is this feasible?
Obviously i understand interest rates vary and will be different in 4 years time, but i'm just looking at options really.
My current wage is 18.5k but is due to increase to 19k in April (basic wage, i do get around £3-4k bonus each year) however in a few years time when i've taken and passed all my qualifications it should be around the £25k mark (before bonus)
I hope to own 50% of my flat by the time i start thinking about these options so should be eligible for the more favourable rates too.

Before making any plans, check your main lease for the flat. Some do not allow it to be let out.0
