legislation on paying teens for odd jobs?

hi,
I have recently been approached by two teenage boys looing for some chores to do for payment. Goodnes knows I have stuff I good give them to do over the holidays, but what are the rules about this, they are fifteen. I would only be asking them to do stuff for me, in the house or garden but my property is also a business (farm) and I might ask them to do stuff like sweeping the farm yard, which I'm guessing might be an issue, as it could be seen as ''business'' rather than just helping kids earn some money with domestic chores.
Also, I'm guessing if it is possible it would be wise to ask them to bring me a letter from their parents/have a parent drop in to ensure their parents are happy with them doing ''odd jobs''?

Good idea about the parents, will there be set hours, I think if its a proper 'job' you have to also get permission from the school
and of course there is also insurance, 'specially as they would be working on a farm, possibly lots of hazzards. I know that they have to be protected but sometimes the red tape often stops some kids who are willing to graft.
Have a look on the council website, I think there are some rules and regs on there.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
