Dear lovely people,
I have just started doing some freelance work. I need to know organise the admin side.
I do work online in education. I work 2-3 days a week from home. What % of household bills can I claim for work and how do I prove this? I am thinking I might need to see an accountant, but am trying to do as much as I can before I pay out for one!
I have earnt about £10k since July. I am trying to work out what I can put down as expenses.
Also any advice for a new freelancer!!
Any help very welcome - thanks for reading this too!

Hi,
I would check with an accountant - I have my own limited company - they advised me it wasn't worth trying to claim things like elec - so I claim £2 a week.

As per post #2 - that's what I do; I work as a freelancer. You certainly don't need an accountant if you are a sole trader and only have simple expenses like that.

KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Not sure if it's the same now but I was told not to bother as it's a nightmare to sort out the tax liability if you use part of your home as an office if/when you eventually sell up and move on.0
