How long do you keep your meat in the fridge?

Here's some excerpts from my 1976 Good Housekeeping Cookery Book on "Storing perishable foods in the refrigerator"
Whole fresh poultry - 2-3 days
Meat:
Joints - 3-5 days
Steaks/Chops/Stewing meat - 2-4 days
Smoked Hams - 1 week
Offal / mince - 1-2 days
Sliced bacon rashers - 7-10 days0 -
as this has dropped down the board ive merged it with an older thread discussing the same thing
I don't buy meat very often but i would tend to use within 24 hours or freeze. I am very cautious about meat , probably because i cook with it so infrequently

i only keep meat until the next day, anything longer than this is frozen and defrosted in the fridge overnight0
