please help, going crackers!

I've been increasingly annoyed with the crap one gets in crackers, so this year decided to not quite make my own, but to modify some.
I bought a set of 6 crackers from poundland. I'm going to leave the crappy plastic gifts in there because hubby and I fondly remember playing with chinese flapping fish, fake mustaches and jumping frogs as children. but I also want to add some other stuff.

I've got a box of yummy dairy free caramel chocolates; and yes. I'm aware that "yummy" "dairy-free" and "chocolate" don't normally go together in a sentence, but believe me these ones are amazingly good.

so we'll each get one of those in a cracker.

but what else can I shove in them that's suitable for a five year old girl, a 28 year old woman and a 33 year old man-child who all eat a mostly dairy free diet due to lactose intollerance??!

thanks!!

  • THings I have put in HM crackers in the past are

    small torch
    badges / stickers
    hair slides
    scratchcard/lottery ticket
bookmark (one of those ones that slides over a page like a clip)
    nail file
    lipstick/salve
    small pen-knife
    keyring

I've made loads over the years and I can't think of all the things I have put in them!

go to department store and ask Clarins, Clinique etc for free samples!

  • in two words - "P0undl@nd tat"

Sometimes you can get little "champagne bottle" bubbles in the wedding/hen night/party section - just whip off the label and they should be the right size :)

You could put in a voucher for something if you get a cheap or bargain gift which is too big to fit inside the cracker itself - e.g. bottle of bubble bath/can of beer or pop/puzzle book

If you're all going to be together on the day, you could buy a family game and put a voucher in for that?

Lollipops are usually popular and often dairy free (and sugar free if you so wish)

You could put forefits in them, if everyone's likely to be game? (wear reindeer antlers for two hours/stand on one leg for 60 seconds/do an impression of your favourite cartoon character) OR - since the winner shouldn't be the one doing the forefit - "nominate one person to........"

    Hmmm.......ohhh the possibilities :D
  • Buy a small bag of Xmas balloons and then put one in every cracker ?

(I bought one from a local stationery shop recently for £1.50).
  • I'm putting scratchcards in my adult crackers and hairclips and a finger puppet in my daughters (she's 2).

I've done some for our nieces with lipbalms in them - got a box of 3 'boiled sweet' shaped ones for £1 from B&M Bargains but you can find them everywhere (Bodycare & Home Bargains spring to mind) :D
