Hello, my mum is very careful with her pans and saucepans so not to scratch them. They are stacked with kitchen roll inbetween to protect, i think she would really like these lakeland protectors but lakeland is always pricey, has anyone seen them elsewhere? http://www.lakeland.co.uk/22314/Pan-Protectors
Also a silicone hob protector that you just peal off and wash instead of having to scrub the hob looks good but again expensive.

They look like the same sort of material as certain types of cleaning cloths - the slightly thicker ones if anyone knows what I mean. Could you cut some to shape?
Alternatively, table protector material, designed to go under table-cloths. My local fabric shop sells this by the metre. This type of material:
