  • Seem to be a lot around my way at the moment - I work in retail in the evenings/weekends as a part time job on top of my full time job, and tonight 3 people paid their £2.99 (a standard price for a particular item) with x2 £2 coins. I couldn't help thinking if I had the spare money I could've changed up a whole load! However, today was actually a NSD, still progress I guess, albeit it in another way :)

  • I have some nice shiny £2 coins :D

I was looking at both the pots you need to break to get the money out, and the cans you need to destroy to retrieve your cash. They just didn't seem very MSE. So I bought a tub of cheese footballs from Mr S. (30p as they are still getting rid of xmas stock), ate the contents (yum) and made a £2 coin sized slit in the plastic lid. Voila!

To avoid the temptation of raiding it for bus fares and the like, I've squirrelled it away in my office drawer (locked drawer, in a very secure building I hasten to add).

I think (hope) I have about 8 already as I started removing them from my purse at the beginning of the month when I got them in my change. Will count tomorrow when I'm back in the office :T

1 more lovely shiny coin today, makes £64 :j

Bloody Hell! £64 is that in January alone?

The are definitely few and far between here in sunny Surrey at the moment

Last year although I saved them, I also spent them kind of willy nilly too. This year I am going to try and hang on to them to get those debts down. Want it all cleared by the end of this year if possible (and buy a doggie next year :o)

I've done really well this month and have banked 20 coins (£40) worth into my xmas club so i'm a happy bunny.

Am going to do the same every month until Nov and then take it all out for xmas spends.

I had three, but I was forced to raid the tin so I could buy petrol to get to work (paying in £2 and £1 coins and 5 x 20p pieces - I got a few looks, I think most people forget what its like not to rely on cards!)

But a fresh start today with one.
