lombard, arden, and moorcroft
Options
hi back in feb 2002 i took out a loan for £6000 i carried out payments on this loan till august 2004 when due to changing jobs i missed several payments. lombard chased me very quickly and i arranged to pay via moorcroft with the last payment made in october 2006 well i recieved no word moved out of home (my parents still are at this address) and moved very close by and now have 3 children.
well in november i recieved a letter from lombard saying idem would take over my account on 5th december 2011 i called lombard and on advice of a friend said i thought the debt was fully paid and had not thought of it since i had not had any letters or calls.
they said the files for old loans was a mess and lots of completed loans had been shown as unpaid and that a manager would review my file they also said moorcroft was dealing with this file (a fact i knew) so i called moorcroft who had no information on me and no data (unless it is in archive) well i contacted lombard 2 weeks later just before idem was to take over and they said that 2700 was still owed and the last payment made on the account was august 2004.
they said contact arden who also have the file, they tried getting me to make small payments something i refused and continued on the path of i thought the debt was paid and i had had no contact with them.
idem also have this figure 2700 on file after a brief carefully worded call i made on the 5th december with them which also they said last payment was august 2004
i was expecting lombard to say i was going to have to make a payment plan with them and thought the contact was best way to try and make it as nice as possible but the latest information gives me a dilema.
do i try for it being barred due to no contact for the period since they have told me on their file was the last payment and risk them discovering other payments after 2004.
do i own up and try to find a way to pay back this money and foce myself to pay arden who i took from their call dont care for anyone.
i gave idem lombard and arden a contact number (a spare mobile) but noone calls even though idem said they would try and find out what was going on and from further advice i have been told to ask for letters and discuss no more on the phone.
i am worried because if i take the honest approach i am in the situation of dealing with arden a company who i dont like (not because of their job but because of their attitude)and i now have 3 small children.
do i just leave alone and hope they wont contact because they beleive they are timed out and i know it.
or do i contact them with the standard barred leeters and hope they dont find the later payments and try and make me pay for it i still owe from my working around 2000 .

Wow, confusing.
So, in a nutshell, you stopped paying a loan, moved away and are now being chased?
If the last payment was six years or over it will be barred...if it wasn't then it isn't. If they have a CCJ for this debt, then it's not barred anyway. Check you credit record too.
Tixy or one of the more useful people will be along soon to tell you what to do in requesting info from them etc etc"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
the issue i have is if i use the date they say was the last payment then it is barred. but i know i made a latter payment which is within the 6 years. i really dont want to risk coming unstuck. i am in the process of doing a credit check but need a new bank card to finish the process to verify my identity. There never was a ccj and no mention of one, i had a hard time when i stopped paying the loan as my father died (my mum still lives there) and i moved out which was a bit of a shock as i had never budgeted before. my initial try at repaying was lost because i paid (and always do) the one who shouts the most, lombard just seemed to not worry so i didnt.
Oh the other thing is the are still not chasing me i chased them for information i have left them a contact number but they have not called and i only live next door to my mother so have not moved far they have just never written0 -
then go very quite and waitout the 6 years, if they are not chasing you don't worry about them.0
