Hello I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place!!

I bought a brand new car ( not posting the brand in case they see!) from a franchised dealer. It's a 11 plate top spec car that I love!

About 5 weeks after having the car I was noticing a lot of loss of power on the clutch when I was on hills or the car in front slowed down or turned off the road.

I took the car straight in to the dealers and told them the problem one of the mechanics came out and took it for a road test and felt the fault fab I thought left the car with the dealers the next day I had a phone call they couldn't find the fault come and pick up your car.

Then about a week later the same fault was happening I wrote down what happened with the car to have this problem they still said nothing was wrong!!!!!!

I took the car in on Wednesday and on Thursday I had a call to say again we can't find the fault this is after a mechanic took my car for a 60 mile motorway trip after I said this was not where the fault happeneds!!! I took the mechanic out and showed him the clutch slipping and the burning and the juddering.

He then said oh yeah your right. The car has now gone in for over a week for a new clutch and a fly wheel exactly what I said the first time the bloody car went into the garage!!!!

The car is on finance. I pay £254.89 per month for it. This problem has been present for 4 months and I have had the car 5 months.

My problem is they ignored me as I feel I'm a young girl and they all looked down on me. For example when I took my mum in as I had to get a lift to the garage they spoke to my mum and not me when I'm the bloody owner I pay for it it's in my name I picked it myself I drive it I clean it I fill it with petrol!!!!!!!

Can I claim any kind of compensation?

Thank you

Your only real loss is the fact you did not have the use of the car for the week it was in the garage while they changed the clutch, did they not offer you a courtesy car?
What sort of compensation do you think you might be entitled to and why?
Surely if the fault appeared after only 5 weeks you should have rejected the whole car for such a major fault.

I have been given a courtesy car but I'm not over 21 so I'm not covered on the dealers insurance I have to pay for my own. The courtesy car is not the same spec as my car for example I have to travel on business and this car has no bluetooth or the right connectors to plug in a phone. I feel I should be offered some amount off of my finance for this month for example £60 or so. You may be reading it as only a week but I have spent hours in the garage and have been late to work twice. It has been a massive inconvenience and has taken up a lot of my time really. I did try to reject the car but they frightened me in way of charges basically I would of lost my £4000 deposit so 5 weeks driving for £4000!!!!!

you have a contract with one company for the finance

you have a contract with the dealership for the car purchase

they are 2 different comapnies and you cannot claim compensation from the finance company for the faults of the dealership.

You're in for a rocky ride if you expect compo for everything in life. You had a courtesy car, you car works ok now. Get over it.

Also you would not have lost 4 grand. Guide to rejecting vehicles here. If you don't learn your rights people will continue to try and fleece you because you don't know your rights. Knowledge is the thing that will stop people treating you like a child.

Sounds like a fiat with a clutch judder, inregards to rejecting something you have to allow repairs x3 time , if its under warranty and they provide you a loan car who cares? You wont get compo, inregards to insurance you have not paid any more as your policy would allow. However do check that your policy allows you to drive other cars
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Chanz as I'm not over 21 I again have to pay for the insurance on the loan car :(
Not a fiat tho a well know german brand made in Oxford.

My car actually isn't fixed yet it's still in the garage so we are not sure it's fixed!!!!!

Thank you for the info on rejecting products looks like it would cost more than 4k to take them to court lol!

Tell them to fix the worthless tin can or you'll be sleeping in their showroom.

Start looking at how to reject a car....give them a chance to fix it first...buying a new car is luck of the draw i am afraid..Some are great and then you have friday cars.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
