  • I haven't come across a credit union before, I'll take a look.

I have just had live chat with Quick Quid, which seemed to go eerily well - they agreed to freeze interest & take 4 monthly payments of £326.56 from the end of Jan to settle the loan. They said they would email confirmation, but they seemed far more willing to agree than I expected...

Hurray! One less problem bearing down at the moment. Make sure you have a reminder to check as I've been so wrapped up in this before I forgot to check and shot myself in the foot and had nothing to go back on a year later!

Well, I have received an email from QuickQuid confirming the repayments from the end of Jan & freezing the interest - that means they will be clear by May! I have just contacted Wonga in the hope of doing similar...
  • Well I got offers for both jobs last night, which is excellent. Neither can start me until Jan 2nd meaning my first pay won't be until end Jan, but it's a starting point!

    Congrats!!

  • Thanks Suzitiger, I'll definately get involved in the 'Clear all your Debts by 2012' challenge!

Wonga have emailed me this morning agreeing to a repayment plan over 5 months from the end of Jan at £239 per month. I must say that (so far) both QuickQuid and Wonga have been very quick to agree to a repayment plan without penalty, perhaps because I approached them rather than letting the payments default first. I'm still wary that both are demanding DD & saying that standing orders aren't acceptable, but I may get around that by keeping my Barclays account open, having my wages paid into a new account, & only depositing enough into the Barclays Account to cover their payments. Either that or I will keep pushing them for the details to arrange a standing order.

Without being armed with the knowledge & support of this forum, I would probably still have my head buried in the debt sand, panicking about my PDLs & how I would get through the next few days / weeks. I feel now that I am starting to take control of my finances, rather than allowing them to control me.

    Hi
    Well done on your achievements.
Whilst you are waiting to start your new job could you offer your services as a dog/baby sitter over Xmas and New Year? it might bring in a few quid.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
