Thortons - Not got refunded!

Hello All.

I purchased a item from thortons for £4.99

The lady behind the till took my visa electron card, processed the payment but upon me singing the reciept she claimed she could not take the card because my signature had rubbed off, which it had.

She then said she refunded the payment and i provided her with my mastercard which went through fine.

It has been 10 day since the transaction. Money has been taken from my visa electron and mastercard. I have not got a refund and it looks like ive been charged twice. I do not have the thortons receipt.

Is there anything i can do?

  • it might be an idea just to go into the store and see if the women you spoke to is there. Cancelling a card is a memorable experience , and you can show how you got charged twice, failing that write to head office and explain what happened.

    Good luck

This happened to me in a Virgin Vie store. I phoned their head office who processed the refund and sent me £15 worth of goodies to "make up for their mistake" - (I think I only spent a couple of pounds originally) I've never smelt so nice!!!

even without the receipt they can track the transaction and would see it has been paid for twice.
    Nice to save.

you could take your bank statement.
if you can remember the date, time if possible and member of staff that served you.they can only retrieve the original transaction if their till is connected to a till system, which records and saves the transactions.
