had a check up today
Nothing needing doing apart from the dentist said the following to the dental nurse and I dont know what they mean.
I was going to ask but the dentist is a big scary woman and was rushing me out to get the next one in!
she said the following
Upper right 8 grade 1
Upper left 8 grade 1
Gums are a 2
What does that mean lol
all she said i had to do was come back and see hygeinist as I have some gum disease on 2 back teeth and I need a deep clean in that area
Thanks in advance

It means that there is some slight loosening of your two top wisdom teeth due to gum disease so that they may move about 1mm side to side more than normal. Treatment with the hygienist and strict oral hygiene thereafter in these areas should help to prevent progression and if they dont get any worse they are unlikely to cause problems. If you smoke, stop. Your hygienist will be able to show you where the problem areas are and how best to keep those areas clean.0

It refers to a basic gum exam called a BPE. Grade 2 means plaque retentive factors present but no pocketing > 3.5mm so there is probably some tartar present but no significant bone loss which causes pocketing.0

Things dont sound too bad and theres unlikely to be any longterm consequences if you follow your hygienist's advice.0
