Fun family(adults) wii game suitable for disabled/limited energy?

Hi, I'm buying my mum a wii/wii fit for Christmas. I would love to find a family game we can play together but I have severe ME, have to do everything laying down and arms tire easily. Does anyone know of any games that would be suitable please? I remember seeing 10pin bowling in an advert which looked good. Not into driving/killing people

Any recommendations would be very much appreciated

  • I'm not very well up on the Wii, but we have one. It came with Wii Sports, which has 10 pin bowling on it. Wii Sports Resort also has it on, but also has a bowling game with 100 pins. Resort includes frisbee (where a puppy gets the frisbee) and golf. My son is disabled and has problems with painful limbs. He also tires easily, but he copes with these games (and is much better than me at them!)
  • Mario Kart is very good....I am rubbish at it. My 13 and 4 yr old sons play it against their cousins (via wifi connection). And you can play against anyone in the world.

It just a steering wheel to hold (and turn), so shouldn't be too tiring.

OP said that she wasn't into driving games, but this information could be useful for others.

Wii Carnival is good fun and doesn't need too much movement (I have CFS/CPS and everything knackers me at the mo :(). The first few goes might be a total disaster as you get the hang of it - but thats part of the fun :p You can do most - if not all (it's a while since we played) - of the games sat down.

TBH - most Wii games - once you get the knack - can be done with limited movement and from a sitting position - you just need to make sure the 'receiver strip' is positioned so it picks up the signal from the Wii Remote from wherever you are sat.

Part of the 'experience' is to do the traditional actions (ie: with the archery the drawing of the bow motion) but they are not really needed if you find them draining.
  • ours came with a sports package, plenty of games on there like bowling.

Re - your ME, I recently read an article about someome being "cured" using massage, I think it was the perrin technique. Basically the perrin theory is that the lymth system doesnt work properly, so the body fills up with toxins, the massage clears the lymph system. The girl in the article had regular treatments and now has one about every 6 months or more if she is starting to fell run down again. It hasnt completely cured her of all of her symptoms but she is able to live a more "normal" life. I tried googling but cannot find the article. HTH

there are loads of family games for the wii that dont really require a lot of movement(with a little practice you can do most with just mainly wrist movements)and if you look for ones made up of mini games like wii party & carnival games you only play for a few minutes at a time each so shouldnt be too tiring

theres a huge choice of games for the wii including trivial pursuit, family games night, monoplay ect if you like those sort of games aswell
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk

I'm disabled, I'm permantely on crutches, spinal, hip, knee, neck injuries, so when I play the wii with DD, I'm sat in the chair.

    I get on well with
    Wii sports
Just dance - I just do arm movements
Sports island, - fun beach based games
