When I was 19 I took in a lodger in my rented house when my room mates got home sick and left me in the lurch.
He was a lovely bloke. He was a Gary Numan fan and always took way longer putting his make up on to go out than I did LOL
We got on very well and became friends. He took me out to meet all his friends and was always welcome when my friends came over.
I charged him enough rent to cover all the bills so that I was always in control of the cash.
I often wonder what he is up to now.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have a lodger but prefer to call him flatmate. He is stunning (and so is his boyfriend) and I couldn't ask for a better person to share with. He found me on the same website that seven-day-weekend mentioned above. Maybe I was just lucky but he is perfection in a 6'4 form!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

thanks for your replies. The aforementioned website is the one from which I found my potential housemate. I have thought about it all night, and I even slept in my small boxroom to check it didn't feel too weird! I think I'm going to do it......... though I will suggest we have a one week trial in case we don't get on, and I'll email her a list of rules

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Once as a poor student I spotted an ad in my local paper. 8 Uni students from another part of the country needed lodgings in Copenhagen for 3 days where I was living. My flatmate (our parrents owned our flat) were away that weekend so I moved into her room and let my room plus the rest of the flat out to the 8 of them. I made close to £200 for that one weekend so much money I coulnd't belive it. I did tell my flatmate when she got back and she was fine about it.
Good luck with yours hope it goes well.Moved to Denmark for FIRE by Aug 2025 “May your decisions reflect your hopes not your fears”

Forgot to say, although someone else has already mentioned it - do have a trial period first (say two weeks) to make sure you are going to get on.
Also another quite important point (especially if you only have a timy bedroom), try to have your own private space; we have our sitting room which the lodger is not allowed to enter without an invitation (this gives us a bit of privacy).
Also as someone else has mentioned, you don't HAVE to give any notice, but unless they turn out to be an axe murderer I think it is only fair to give some.
Hope it works for you!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
