  • I've not tried this myself, but have been told by friends who have that the best thing to do first is wash the wool on a hottish wash, which tends to shrink the fabric, and make it thicker (does that make sense??). You can then make them into cushion covers, as already suggested, or bags.

Blue Peter made cushion covers with big buttons sewn on. They looked great.

We had a talk at WI once by a woman who makes cushion covers, throws etc out of a kind of felt. She knitted the fabric , washed it on a very hot wash , then cut it out.

Seems a pity to use cashmere like that though
  • Can you crochet? If so, crochet a few individual motifs, you know the sort of lacy, vaguely flower shapes and stitch them over the holes. I saw cashmere jumpers and cardigans decorated this way in a designer shop and thought what brilliant way to cover up moth holes! (I'm not implying the designer jumper priced at hundreds of pounds had mothholes, you understand!!! LOL)

How about hot water bottle covers? Very chic as well as practical, simple to make and you'll also get an even warmer glow knowing that you've saved yourself £50-odd quid buying a similar one at swanky places like Brora and The White Company (that's really how much they cost!!!!).

cut and sew up a stuffed animal for you or as a gift.

make a big magazine type bag.

depending on the sizes of the items, you could make little pot pourii bags for shoes, wardrobes, drawers etc.

make some cool kath kidston-esque brooches?

any lefovers unthread, and wind up for another use.

if you really dont want to cut them up, maybe just use them as very comfortable scruffs for diy and gardening. i ruined some posh trousers and now garden in them, i look very glam!
