occasionally they might have a toasted tea-cake or homemade biscuit0 -
i don't tend to have supper these days - we eat our main meal quite late due to OH's rugby training.
When I was a child our family always had supper about an hour before bed. It was usually a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal if we were hungry.
We were limited to either a packet of crisps or a sweetie/chocolate bar once a day and it was always in our packet lunch we had at school. I don't really remember eating sweets on the weekend unless it was a real treat.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I try not to give anything after the main meal is over at around 6ish, however that is difficult for DD1 because she invariably refuses to eat most of my offerings and so is looking for sustenance at about 9pm (she's 16). I have recently stopped buying crisps, chocolate, biscuits and cake and don't have much cereal in, so she is forced to have toast or a sandwich. If DD2 wants supper I usually give her toast and tea or occasionally a slice of HM cake and either a cup of tea or a glass of milk (she's 9). I always have ryvitas and extra light philadelphia in and both of them like them with a bit of jam on top which I don't mind them having if they are hungry.Jane
