Can I 'feed' the cake with something which isn't alcoholic like orange juice to prevent it from drying out?
Just bumbling along, trying to save some money
Couldn't do it without coming here every day

One of the problems I could see with orange juice is that it would 'go off' if not chilled, even UHT stuff needs chilling after opening.0

I seem to remember my nana mentioning feeding it with tea... I could be wrong though... I shall google it.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

Your cake shouldn't dry out if there's plenty of fruit in it. I would just wrap it up in foil and store in an airtight tin.0

Juices will ferment and it will make the cake sour. I think you can use tea, but to be honest I would just leave it alone - just wrap it really well and keep in an airtight tin.Jane
