as far as I can see, they are still in dissaray, there is no solution, the debts are not being repaid, the french banks have all been downgraded
and yet,
shares are rising.
what is actually going on??? I really don't understand it at all anymore.
they seem in no better position than 6 months ago - in fact in a worse position and yet, all looks rosey.
madness.

Yes, indeed
I've wondered exactly how whatever has been agreed or not amongst the 17 is going to have any effect on the CURRENT problem - the debts.0 -

It's very simple actually, the ftse is waiting for me to buy in again, then it will collapse soon afterwards.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Hopefully as far GREAT BRITAIN is concerned it will be the start of....
1. Shutting the gates to millions of eastern europeans who would over populate us more than it already is.
2. Legislation coming out of Parliment and not Brussels
3. Not having to carry over spending countries who cannot live within their means... PIGS
4. Can make a start in rebuilding our identity, Britain has 5000 years of history and culture good and bad, I walk around London now and I do not recognise it.
5. Start building a real relationship with our european friends that respects our differences0 -
The thought of the French makes me seethe with anger.0

Do we live within our means?
Whats this 5000 years of history crap? We have our identity because of immegration, not despite it. most of us are german/french/scandinavian in origin from within the last 1000-1500 years, but dont let facts get in the way of the debate.
What would happen if we pulled out. Do you really think it would be a nice easy exit without job losses etc?0 -

Its what always happens with the martket.
When there is uncertainty people are wary about buying shares, they wait to see what happens. But there is a continuous flow of shares onto the market from people who need the cash etc. So prices drop.
As soon as something does happen people know better where they stand and those who want to buy do so - prices rebound.0 -
its going to end in meltdown. no doubt about it.
the eurozone has terminal cancer. they can dose up on morphine and die peacefully and quickly or they can go on and on, through painful radiotherapy and chemotherapy but eventually they will still die.
that is how it will end.0 -

Possibly, although I would expect it to get through this current crisis and carry on for a few more years at least.
It seems reasonably safe bet that we are going to end up with some sort of unified monetery policy. If they can struggle though the recession the vast majority of people wont care and so it will continue.
Far too much at stake from far too many people who can call the shots.0 -

Yes we were invaded and occupied for over 300 years in the case of the Romans, Scandinavian kings have sat on our throne after the Romans left, The Normans, the celts, anglo saxons all coming from the nothern alps, spain, France, yes we are a mongrel nation and I would not change a thing. We have also had smaller minority groups come and go from Jews to the hugonauts. I do not need a History lesson mate, the problem we have seen over the last 20 or 30 years compared to 100 and 1000 of years ago is that we have been forced to take in far too many at too faster pace, there is nothing familar any more.
Can you imagine a group of amazon indians who are then suddenly forced to live with half a dozen other races overnight and the are forced to change the way the live, there would be uproar.
Look at the aboriginals, they now have so many emotional problems through the changes they have been forced to endure in a short space of time, many do not know who they are any more.0
