Help! No wages for 8 weeks!

Hi everyone,

Please can someone help me?
My partner has worked for the same company for 10+ years, and we've never had a problem with being paid.
But recently, the company went into administration (Nothing major, as they're opening a new company in its place, so jobs safe)

The trouble is, we haven't been paid for 8 weeks.
The administrators advised us, that we had to put a claim in for wages, which we did, and were told we would get money owed within 3 weeks, but its been 3 weeks and 2 days since we did this.

We've now got to the point where we can't borrow anymore money, and have no money left at all, which with a toddler, things are not easy. HELP!!!

Does anyone know what rights we have??
My partner is still working 70 hours a week for this company, and the motivation to keep going in, is diminishing.

So he's still working there despite not bveing paid for 8 weeks? - Why?

Not only is it now costing you through lost wages but its also costing you for transport, lunch, maybe parking etc.

Get out, and find something else - fast. You might also be able to get a crisis loan from the jobcentre to tide you over.

The really daft part about this is that if you pack in the job, DWP can say you intentionally made yourself unemployed and sanction you.

I wouldn't be doing a 70hr week. Is it a transport company? If it is, get out NOW. They are falling like dominoes and whatever phoenix rises from the ashes is likely to burn in short shrift.
  • Sorry but I wouldn't guarantee on 3 weeks - having the company that I was made redundant from in March go into administration, it took a long time to get the back pay sorted and in the meantime we couldn't do anything - just wait.

It ended up taking nearly 10 weeks to get the money through and I was advised to get a crisis loan if I was in trouble financially.

Also have you been advised on when the new company would be started up? It may also take longer that expected to get it running :(
