  • Go to poundland and get a bottle of their drain unblocker, just pour down the sink and leave until it glugs away.............. it is brilliant.

If you have used bleach flush it away with copious amounts of water before using any other product
Bleach reacts with anything acid, including vinegar and the result is chlorine gas  so please make sure that the bleach is gone before starting.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Bathroom sinks are often blocked with fats, body fats and the ones they make soap with. Try a kettle full of boiling water to start with, it might clear it enough to be able to use any unblockers more effectively.

If all else fails you might need to take the u bend out and empty that - more black gunge I'm afraid.
  • tip once given to me by a plumber dissolve soda crystals [wilkos 60 p] in boiling water pour down plug hole do it once a month to all plug holes to keep clear and fresh

I had exactly the same problem lasyt week, no hair goes down my basin plughole either. Copied and pasted my reply last week on a similar thread on the In My Home Board

"For people like me who would end up with leaks if I started messing about with traps etc and looking for a clean and easy solution. Having tried bleach then kettles of boiling water and soda crystals without success, I used this stuff on my washbasin, which had been slow draining and yesterday blocked completely.

No hair goes down the plug, but there was a lot of black gungey stuff. Worked in an hour and the basin is emptying really quickly now. At £2, it was half the price of the Mr Muscle type cleaners in Tesco and you can claim your money back if it doesn't do the trick.

The waste had always been sluggish , now it's clean as a whistle! Reiterate previous post about patiently flushing away the bleach first and also ventilate the room well when using any other products.
  • soda crystals normally do the job, and worth keeping in the cupboard not only for this but making your white washing white again lol and many other thingsx

  • Just take the u bend off and clean it out - easy to do, guaranteed to work and FREE!
  • I had a blocked sink a couple of months ago that nothing cleared, even drain unblocker just sat there. Can't get to the U bend (stupid pedestal sink design ) to clear it that way. Landlord came round with a plunger and it was clear within a minute.
