New job and not being paid

I would have thought if they are a well known company - I'm presuming retail - they will pay but they sound disorganised. Possibly lots of extra Xmas staff but no extra payroll staff? I never start a job without a written contract, in theory you can have a verbal one but in practice I would have thought its difficult to prove just your word against there's. Legally they don't have to provide one just a statement of written particulars within 2 months I believe. Your daughter should make sure she gets this statement or a contract as it will detail things like holiday and sick pay. Re the pay I'ld keep chasing HR/manager - ideally get the direct number, it seems odd that she hasn't got this or a name. I'ld ask them when she will be paid by and get a date and insist that date is asap. If that date passes and she still isn't paid I maybe call ACAS to see her rights and also consider changing employers. Normally firms can put through a payment quickly if they want to - they can issue a cheque the same day.0

Are you 100% sure that pay is definitely weekly and not monthly?
Even my temporary Xmas minimum wage 8 hours a week job with a well known retailer was paid monthly. And I know my friend was similiar with her similiar job even though other staff were paid weekly.

Panic over.
She manage to get a sensible explanation today - The department that her full birth certificate originally went to was slow to notify wages that they had her documentation. Their cut of day is Tuesday and they didn't receive it until Wednesday of last week. They have apologized and given DD a £100 sub today. Her manager has gone over her hours with her to make sure they both agree how much is due.
Relief!
p.s. They are definitely paid weekly.
Thank you everyone for your time and comments. xx :A£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210
