hi, send them a photocopy of their original letter also stating that you have ill health & will be making a formal complaint to the FSA, they have 5 working days i think to acknowledge ur complaint & reply to you,
If the lender or broker cannot make a final decision on your complaint after a month, they must keep you informed. If you are not happy with the final response from them, your complaint may be able to be considered by the Financial Ombudsman Service.

The Ombudsman provides a free and independent advice service for consumers who would like to make a complaint, phone on 0800 0234 567 (office hours).

    this information is from http://www.cml.org.uk/cml/consumers/guides/complaints

i hope this helps, im 2 sure about the accuracy i read your post & googled it to help, i think the best bet would be to ring the freephone number.

    good luck!
  • hello, thank you for the answer, but i have alredy sent them a copy...and they know i am disabledand i cannot phone them as i am DEAF.i have taken some notes from you .

    Hi,

Britannia have a mini-com number if you can use that: 0808 1566 698

Here is the information about how you make a complaint to Brittannia http://www.britannia.co.uk/_site/corporate/contact-us/making-a-complaint.html

In particular, you can write to them at Customer Feedback Centre, Britannia, Newton House, Leek, Staffordshire Moorlands, ST13 5RG

Once you have made a formal complaint to Britannia and you don't get a response within 5 days, you should talk to the Financial Ombudsman.

If you email the financial ombudsman at this email address, they can discuss with you how best to communicate given your deafness: accessibility@financial-ombudsman.org.uk

Here is the information from the Financial Ombudsman in sign language if that helps.

You do need to follow the formal processes, even though it is very frustrating. Keep photocopies of any letters you send them so you can send the to the financial ombudsman if you need to complain. Your local library will have a photocopier you can use, but if your son works in an office he can probably photocopy things for you.

Age Concern or another charity may also be able to provide advice and assistance given your hearing difficulties.

I hope you don't mind me commenting that your post is in bold... when a post is all bold or all capital letters it can come across to readers as a little bit rude, which I'm sure you don't mean to be :)

Good luck getting it sorted out.

Gold brad, do you have your original mortgage agreement with Britannia ?
There will be a deeds release fee, I dont know what it is currently but I'm pretty sure you should only pay the fee as set out in your original agreement. Britannia are pretty useless to be fair.
