Payday loan company/website that doesn't require mobile number?

Options
Just registered because I'm feeling like a hermit right now. Have gone through 20 payday loan websites, all of which required a mobile phone number for the application process - Something I don't have.

Does anyone know of a website that doesn't require a mobile number, or perhaps a company I could contact via the phone?

I'm 22 and really couldn't tell you what my credit rating is, but my bank won't extend my £250 overdraft. I asked why and was told because I'd gone over my arranged overdraft earlier in the year, that there is a 12 month period before I'd be able to have my OD stretched further, which is fair enough.

I'm hoping to borrow £70 until January the 5th. So not a large loan by any stretch of the imagination - Just enough to pay my court fine for this week and next week.

I'm working self-employed at the moment and have just shy of £600(Living with parent so have little outgoing, save for my court fine and board) a month coming in. Paying it back in January wouldn't be problematic in the least.

But I'm struggling to find a website that doesn't require me to own a mobile phone, and I have breached my arranged over draft a few times in the past few years so not sure where I stand with lenders if I can find a company that doesn't insist on a mobile phone number.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Borrow the money from your parents, best option if you can

You can get a mobile from Asda for a £10 at the moment.

  • Lol. So my best bet would be to borrow a mobile for the application process - There aren't any lenders who don't require a mobile? Strikes me as unusual, can't say I've had the problem of needing a mobile before.

    Cheers for the responses

They want it so they can harass you for payment whenever and wherever you are if you fall behind. Personally i'd suggest avoiding them like the plague unless you really have no other option.

Make sure you check/uncheck the option that says do not contact me in future or they will relentlessly phone you and try to get you to take another loan out. These people are vultures and have little or no conscience.

I wouldn't borrow a phone number from a mate to do this - as if you have any problems they'll be hassled constantly by text. You could borrow a phone from someone but buy your own sim to put in whilst you get the loan authorised.

Would parents not let you off your board until payday? so that you can pay your fines, or loan you the money for the court fine? Or have you anything you could sell to raise some cash? I'd try to avoid the payday loan route if you possibly can even for £70.

  • Are there any ethical companies/organisations out there garth? I recall a friend borrowed some money from somebody referred to by the CAB, I think it was a crisis loan from the Social Fund. BUT I wouldn't say I'm in crisis, I'm just trying to avoid missing a court payment as 4 hours at the magistrates re-explaining my income - which could easily be verified by phone or fax - is a pain in the !!!!!

Buy a cheap phone or just a sim and then bin it or just stick it in a drawer, they will call it ad infinitum if you default or don't pay them back.

Hi Tixy. I live with my Mother, single parent. She doesn't have any money herself at moment as she works a poor paying job and there's 3 of us in the house(my brother and sister in education), and, well, it's Christmas so you can imagine.

I'm more concerned about the courts. My Mum understands - as do most normal human beings - but the courts are a pain.

I guess I'll have to try my luck with a persuasive letter and hope they don't put a warrant out for my arrest!
