Worth it?

Found it from a link on Telegraph website money section and thought it interesting.

I/We eat out once a week or so. Seems a high purchace cost but I think i may make it back.

I suppose the other quetion is, could I achive the same savings from 'cut out' vouchers and offers without paying the taste card premium?

Hi I have one that I got free from the carphone warehaouse.. In my opinion its not really worth it..especially if u have to pay for the card.
I have had the card for 4 months now and have yet to use it, even though I eat out a lot.
I find the problem is u need to plan in advance when u want to eat and if it caters for the number of people eating, some are for 2 and and some for more, all with different discounts..

So no I wouodnt recommend it..
Oh and restraunts get taken off unexpectedly!!

Applied for the free trial. It's 2 months at the moment as they aren't dispatching in December. No harm in trying it out.

We use the tastecard all the time. Specifically we like La Tasca which is 50% off food. I wouldnt pay over the often reduced offer of £29.99. I get the kids and family the free trials.

You just have to learn the restaurants which do it or research before you go out.

We have been to some swanky restaurants in London for half price.

I would say worth it, but not if you go out for meals like my sister about once every two years......lol.

Also on my tastecard it has my name, does it have a name on the ebay ones?

I know they never check or ask for identification in restaurants.

My daughter got this card "free " with a phone and we used it to save 50% off the meal for 3 of us in the restaurant at the Hilton Metropole -brilliant. And a really good meal. We saved shedloads.

I bought one on Ebay and what they do is send you a one-off code which you use to redeem online. My code didn't work, and the buyer ignored my emails - in the end I got a refund. Didn't pay a lot but it was the principle of the thing - the same seller was selling them still, but at a higher price.

I then won one in a FB competition

I've not used the card though...

Looks as if they are not ebay at the cheap price anymore. Maybe tastecard have stopped it. I won one last year which was for a year but I never used it.

I have one that I got via a 99p eBay code. I've used it quite a few times so have saved a fair bit of money. It was particularly useful when on a week's holiday in Bournemouth this summer as it was valid in some independant places as well as the usual chain restaurants.
