The Opperetta resturant in Hull is well worth a visit, very good food and service for s reasoable price. I live in York and went there last saturday it seemed to be full of regulars who were on first name terms with the chef.0

My parents and I went for a pizza, but we ended up waiting that long that we left. Loads of other people were also complaining about the waiting time. On the way out, I spotted our pizzas and asked if we could have them as a takeaway. I offered to pay for them, but the waitress gave them me for free! So we got 2 large pizzas for free!0

Whenever we eat out - not often - I am usually disappointed. My lovely OH always tells me that not everyone eats as well as we do, aah:p One christmas we had a works do, lots of people were saying how fantastic the food was, but it was very average. What do some people eat at home? I think that if people are used to ready made meals from the supermarket they will like restaurant food! We Martin's Angels :A are used to better things - and much cheaper too!0

If it is in Bletchely, then I know the restaurant you are talking about and because I'm a vegetarian, I thought I'd give it a try.
the food was reasonable but the service is a bit surly. It's hard to get the one waitress to respond to anything.
Also, because they do not use onion or garlic in any of their food, it is a bit of a taste battle.
I would not go back there again.
I must have it very wrong but I did not think that Bhuddishm advocated 'no onion and no garlic'Shobhna0 -
Having has a quick read of this post, I see that there are many of you who feel the same about chain restaurants.
I keep thinking that it must be me (in trainng to be Grumpy Old Woman !)
that I always seem to find the tables not cleaned properly, the cutlery with finger marks on it, and the rest.
My BH always say that if I am not happy, then I should complain, and this is Ok by me if it is just him and me out for a meal, but when we are out with group of friends, I'd hate to be making a fuss.
For the first time and the last time ever.....I went to a TGI Fridays in MK. wanted a quick meal before seeing a show at the Theatre.
Now, for someone who is vegetarian, it is a big leap of faith to even go into these places, but since hubby fancied steak, I thought I'd be sure to find something tht I liked. I'd say that the food was OK but not something I'd go out of my way for and the bill came to £50. Why...becasue of the steak/grill mix or whatever it was called that my husband ordered.
I'd certainly never go there again, but then I don't to go Pizza Huts or Bella Pasta or any such chains.
Bedford has some excelletn Pizza restaurant where they server Pizza like Momma made and it is worth the drive to go eat there.
I cook at home and I know that everthing I cook is delicious and all our freinds, non-veggies included, eat everything I cook and take leftovers home....So why do I still end up ocassionally eating out and then moaning about it....because it's a treat for me to have someone else cook
I'm just gonna have to limit my eating out to once a month and then only to the restaurants that we know can do a good choice of veggie food.
My worst experience was in a Pub/restaurant in Lincolnshire. went there with our friends who live there. I was told, that it is the best Pub/Restaurant in Lincoln and the food is excellent.
Got to the restaurant, walked thru pub area where you had to cut your way thru the smoke .....the restaurant area had house flies flying bout (Ugh! - middle of January?) the table top was sticky. there was not much to choose from and the one choise I had was cauliflower and broccoli bake (on par with a vege. lasagna) so I thought, let's see if these people can really cook and asked for a very simple meal....I asked for a cheese omlette with salad.
AND YES....you got it, they served me the most disgusting omlette I have ever had in my life. Proved to me that they could not cook in that kitchen.
well...that's another place off my list of places to re-visit.
and again, I did nto make a fuss becasue our friends had taken us there.
also found out that they still cook thier chips in meat fat but are reluctant to tell you that.
How I wish there was a website somewhere that I could name and shame, it might just make these places pull thier socks up.
the best thing out of all this is that I seem to be saving oddles of money not eating out as much as I had been in the past.
It's defo. making a difference to my bank balance.Shobhna0 -
Hey Init, I'm also local to MK and I can recommend the Wavendon Arms (in Wavendon!). A quick google should locate the website.
Loads of friends have been raving about it (including a few vegetarians!) and I went there for lunch on Monday and I agree with them. Nice atmosphere, fantastic food, good service. And the price isn't bad either.
I'm going to get DH to take me there for lunch on my birthday in a couple of weeks!0
