Things to do to get ready for looking for a job?

I am currently signed off work sick.

My contract runs out in March so in the New Year (prior to be signed off) I had planned on starting to look for a new job.

As I am off sick now, I don't feel in any position to be looking for a job etc and so wondered what I could be doing in order to 'prepare' for when I am fit and able to start applying.

I have updated my CV with all my training and job details etc, I have down loaded the 5 local authority application forms and filled in as much as I can, so at least I don't need to start them from scratch. I have created an NHS profile too.

I am hopeful to be back at work in the next few weeks, current sick note I got on Monday is for 4 weeks, but I am hoping to get work to agree alternative duties tomorrow.

Is there anything you can think I could maybe be doing so that when my contract does come to an end I'm at least ahead of the game (maybe).
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

It is, I've never been asked that before, so thanks for the heads up :)
