in Cutting tax
I just received a letter from IR indicating that I have to pay more than £4000 for tax year 2002-2003 when I was self employed.
I did not received any correspondence, no court order and as far as I am concerned I have paid all my taxes. On that time I had a partner and everything was in my name (business). then he threatened me and my family. and I left the business and came to London and started again.
When I called the IR they guy said if I do not pay by Friday they would bankrupted me. He said initially was about £2000 and the rest is interest.
He even told me that I had a court hearing. They had all my addresses during these years but I never ever received anything. Who would ignore tax man? But now I am working part time with a wife and 2 kids and I do not have enough money to pay. I don't even know weather I should pay any money at all. or even if I have to now it is more than 6 years, can they still claim it back?
