    I've recently just sold all my Yankees as the soot from the wick was making a mess of my ceilings and walls. I now use Scentsy which are wickless candles, and smell stronger than Yankees IMO x

    You have to cut the wick to stop the black smoke. I don't find Yankee jars very strong or the samplers but the tarts are brilliant.

    Don't forget you can also halve the samplers and burn them like you would the tarts :)

    thanks op .had looked at the site before but the xmas samplers were such a good price i couldn't resist and ordered 10 different ones to try at £5.90 ! and 3 holders including a really cute penguin one.only trouble was that was an hour and a half of looking(not an easy site to navigate ) which i should of been writing xmas cards in!

    Our local Outlet shopping village has an Hallmark Cards shop and they've been doing Yankee candles 1/2 price.

    Yep just remove the wick and chop in half. The smell is much stronger by melting than burning the usual way.:)
