Christmas Cake

I've just bought a Saino's xmas cake kit, (which incidently is currently on offer at £5 instead of £14.99;)) so I was wondering, if I made it this weekend, and kept it in an air tight box till xmas, would it still be ok to eat xmas day? Also if it is, can i still add a bit of brandy to it once it's baked, then decorate a couple of day before xmas day?
Just bumbling along, trying to save some money
Couldn't do it without coming here every day ;)

    Yes and yes!

Fruit cake that's got alcohol in it will last for months. Once you've baked it, wrap it in greaseproof paper and foil and feed it booze every few days. I'd marzipan and ice it about a week before xmas. When you do the marzipan, leave it for a day to dry out before doing the icing.
