Consolidation Loans - How long?

SoundTraveler wrote: »Hi,
My husband has run us alot of gambling debt, looking at around £20,000 on credit cards.
We both have ok credit ratings, not fantastic though, but are looking into taking out a consolidation loan, as paying the extra back at the end does not bother us.
The CC companies are asking for £500 at a time, so paying them all off and just paying £300 per month is alot more beneficial.
However, I was just wondering how long it actually takes to receive the loan after applying, anyone ever taken one before?
thanks x
Not as quite as a payday loan if that's what you were thinking...

On the basis a £20k is simply not worth discussing, maybe we should fill in some blanks..
The OP IS the gambler, the PDL were required in haste due to the "Dead Cert" three legged donkey running in an hours time.
The OP is now looking to hide the mountainous debt pile by way of a consolidation loan (likey joint by forging the OH Signature).
This is not far fetched to me due to the "We don't give a monkeys how much it will cost us in the long run" comment.
Get the £20k, pay £8k worth of debt off and put the rest on Red, even if Black comes up, I still have £8k worth of chips left so can easily make that up again!!
Or am I too old and cynical?0 -
I take it he's a crap gambler then? not really Nick the Greek is he?"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

I said I'd do that if that post was true, and I meant it. Since it seems to have been wholly untrue my grundies are safe, for the meantime.Peelerfart wrote: »Excellent! Brightened up a cruddy Wednesday no end.
Anybody tell Richgold to get his underpants ready ?
As proved today not only is this chap a terrible gambler but he also tells porkies. Nice spot on this one Emmzi, I'd missed it completely.
OP, you have to realise that £20,000 is a significant amount of debt, especially as you have nothing to show for it. Everything I've ever owed has left me with an asset, or a toy I've been glad of having. Until you grasp that you're throwing money away with no benefit to yourself, this will continue.
Good luck, I won't take the pee this time, but it looks like it'll be hard to get any serious advice out of this forum from here on in.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Hold up - SoundTraveller, aren't you the "it's Friday I need a payday loan" poster?
And now you are the wife?
I am confused.
I was thinking the same thing but was trying to think wher e i remembered the username from.
OP you have come along way since you were last on here, did you manage to sort out that weekend quick loan to repay your friend back ?
Have you cut up the credit cards OP ?
Could be a good thread, anyone getting the drinks and popcorn ?0 -
wife might be using his account after confessing all...what a tragic messIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
