AA Breakdown Policy T&C's

[FONT=&quot]Perhaps I've misunderstood the T&C's of the AA Breakdown cover policy (Feb 2011) but on the top of Page 20 it states "for Members with Annual cover: subject to any other statutory rights the Member may have, there will be no right to cancel...". The policy document is easily downloadable from their web site. Just seems an odd clause to me. I ran it past the Which? guys and they seemed to agree. What do you think?

What do you think the problem is? I take it to mean if you buy a year's policy you cannot cancel mid-way through and get any money back. Pretty standard clause?

You pay for 1 years cover and they give you one years cover. Seems normal to me.

Not talking about a refund. If you read the policy clause - it states there is no right to cancel.

Normal with breakdown cover. Its a 12 month plan, and you can't cancel it once you've taken it out. At the end of the 12 months the plan has come to an end, and you need ot decide whether you want to buy another 12m plan.

They will sometimes allow you to suspend the plan. If you've just bought a new car, and it comes with a 1-year RAC policy, the AA may allow you suspend your 12m plan. If you have 5 months left, that then starts up again after your RAC policy expires. They do this in order to tempt you back again.

If you cannot cancel the policy then you cannot receive a refund.
What they are saying is once you agree to a contract, you have no right to cancel it. Very common practice.

In real life they will accept your cancellation. They'll tell you your policy is cancelled, but they won't give you any money back.

Out of interest what do you think it means? Sign up for cover and you can never cancel it, ever - they've got you for life?
