Ways to start making money?

Hey everyone! I've been quietly looking on these forums for a while now and I thought I'd finally post something.

I'm 18 and I finished college this summer and I decided not to carry on with any education since I have no idea what I want to do with my life yet. I haven't got a job or anything either. I've been searching for a while but it's proving difficult and I don't really have any experience either. Also I've been struggling with depression for a few years, though it hasn't exactly been diagnosed or anything. I'm feeling so low and unmotivated right now. It's difficult to even get out of bed let alone do anything most days.

Anyway right now I'm looking for ways to make money. I literally have about £2 left in my bank account and I have no source of income whatsoever. I really need at least some money but I'm just finding it hard to get started with anything.

I'm currently joined to globaltestmarket, valued opinions, toluna, swagbucks, opinion world, vivactic, crowdology and your pay says but I haven't actually made enough on any of them yet.

I'm thinking of selling a few of my old clothes and books on ebay maybe and also I want to start selling crafts but I think it will be a while before I make anything worth selling.

I feel very stuck right now and I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for how I could make a bit of money. I'm meant to be going to a concert on the 23rd december but the train fare to get there costs £70 and I don't have the money. Well I've got about £20 so far just need another £50. It would be such a shame if I couldn't go because of money. :(

To be honest, selling some stuff on ebay or somewhere else is probably your best chance to get some money fast. Next step I would recommend is looking for a day time job or continuing your education. If you feel down and unmotivated preventing you form this, look for help as soon as possible. I don't say this to make you feeling worse but there is no 'get money fast online' secret. In fact, it isn't easy to make a living online without any special talents. There is a reason this section is called 'Up your income' and not 'Make your income'.

Hope this helps at least a little. Cheers,

Hi Kamy, if you've been reading these forums for some time you probably realise that lots of threads are about how people can cut back on some of the things we'd like, the little luxuries, and until things get better make do with the necessities. My first thought after reading your post was that if you're struggling for money the concert on the 23rd is an expensive night out.
Good luck with finding a job or building a little business of your own.

You do need to see your GP & talk through how low you are feeling. It's all connected & a vicious circle.

How on earth do you feed yourself with no income at all - how do you pay your bills? If you want to earn money so that you can go to a concert then maybe you need to make a list of what your priorities are. I need money to eat, pay bills - survive & feed my animals. I also don't mean to sound harsh but you should be applying for jobs - you'll be able to pick something up at this time - shop work, hotel work - advertise yourself as a cleaner, dog walker - get a live in position as a carer. If you have no focus to your day then I'm not surprised that you are down. If you can't get paid work then there are a multitute of unpaid jobs that you could be doing to get experience, to get yourself out there in the mix. If you haven't worked then how do you know if you'll like a certain job or not? If you like craft work then how about night classes? You may get good at it & be able to sell your stuff eventually but you'll need money for materials unless you could recycle stuff, up-cycle. But that won't happen unless you DO something & if I was you that's what I would do is DO.
All the very best - let's know how you are doing - do a diary thing & motivate yourself on here - perhaps?

Oh I live with my mum still she pays for everything. She doesn't particualy have a lot of money herself though so she hardly gives me any anymore.
I have started looking for jobs everyday again and I've applied to a couple before I guess it's just hard to stay motivated enough to do it.
    Thanks for your advice :)
  • If you want a short term job, maybe just pop into your local pub and tell them you can start straight away and as you are new to the job, you can learn to run the bar their way.

It was always a good thing for me when I managed a bar to get someone new in as they could be trained my way and not have old hang ups about being trained another way.

There's always cleaning job in pubs, bars, restaurants or a kp (Kitchen Porter) just at Xmas time to cover themselves.

    Hello :)
Don't know if this of help to you but I have re-joined Kleeneze and earned £85 in my first week :) It's now free to join, (I really couldn't have done it if I had to pay for a kit - just literally wouldn't have had it). There are lots of opportunities on here - some you pay for and some you don't, just have a look around :)
Good luck - there are always solutions :) I also agree that it may be a good idea to see your local doctor if you are feeling down x

Based on how bad your experience with paid surveys has been (the same goes for most other people) I could recommend that you check the MyCarPaid product. Should be a reliable way to earn some money.

Hi Selling stuff on ebay is how I got some cash together quickly, then I started my own Wikaniko (we can eco) business which a friend of mine had told me about before I got made redundant. So it can be done, I love and couldn't be happier.
One other thing to help your state of mind is yes get some medical help but also it might be worth reading some positive/motivation books etc. I've found these extremely helpful getting me through the peaks and troughs of life have a read of Jim Rohns stuff.
    Best of luck:)

I second that. There's no beating Napoleon Hill when it comes to motivational books! :)
