    Absolutely although I don't know if refusing a certified person because he won't provide paperwork has ever been tested.

    Anyway, getting a bit theoretical!

    As already advised, provided the rep is accredited and shows his credentials s/he is permitted to accompany you.

    It is not necessary for this person to be a company employee.

    It looks like I may be going by myself to this meeting. As im not a member of a trade union and I dont know anyone within my company I cant take anyone else. Unless I can find a union rep I may know!

    Stitched myself up a bit there :(.
