So... what MSE challenges are we all aiming for in the New Year?
I'd like to try the grocery challenge again, I did it for several months last year and found it quite useful, but then fell off the bandwagon when we moved house.
Also did the savings pot for Christmas, which went really well until it was pillaged in November...oh well
I was quite impressed by the people who tried to make 11k in 2011 but did not really have the time to focus on it on top of my job. It was a bit too overwhelming.
Something regarding exercise/weight may also be useful, but I'm not sure I can be bothered
Will need to think about that one.
I reckon the most fun challenge for 2012 will be to keep trying for a baby :rotfl:

1 - I want to lose about 2.5 stone in 2012
2 - I want to be debt free in 2012
Not much but I'm past writing huge lists that I know I wont achieve & these are the 2 most important things for me to get sorted!

I want to pay off half of my debt (it isn't a lot but with maternity pay etc it'l be harder)
Open a savings account for bubs once he's born and contribute as much as I possibly can to it.
Hopefully find a house we really want to live in.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I want to lose 2 1/2 stones in 2012. I'd also like to save towards paying off our debts. I'd like to live a more frugal life. Oh I'd also like to keep on top of the cleaning, ironing and housework in general. I'd also like to set up my own business again during 2012. So much I want to do as resolutions...
Good Luck everyone.x___________________________________________

To stop using my overdraft (and credit card) and live within my means.
To quite simply be happy and not to sweat or stress the small stuff.0 -
I never make any New Year's resolutions as I always fail but I have some goals for next year:
- become debt free as soon as possible;
- save as much money as I can;
- live as frugally as possible ie by setting myself a maximum for my groceries, limiting my spends when out and about, etc.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Im joining in the £2012 in 2012, im going to hopefully make this by overtime at work, ebay and craft fayres then come november/december i'll have more than enough money for christmas presents and hopefully a nice long weekend away for my 21st birthday.
Im also hoping to save £4000 over 2012 to add towards my mortgage deposit fund, which i hope is achievable as i live as home and just pay board to my mum so dont have massive outgoings :P0 -
I'm up for this! I am becoming a student again next month and although my husband has a good job things will be super tight so have to be so careful...
I have 3st to lose, and £450 to save for birthdays throughout the year and Christmas. So lbs to lose and £s to gain!0 -
I have one major saving goal for 2012: Save £3400 by mid-August that, along with £2k savings from bonds, will pay for my masters if I don't get funding. I have around £1k in overpaid tax to clain which will be a big help, but after that this is going to be tight! I earn £135/week out of which I need to save about 60% and the rest covers every living cost imaginable except basic rent(but not bills and services).
My OH says I can live with him rent free until I find a PT job which pays enough for me to contribute to more than just bills so that isn't a worry for now.
Consequently, i'll also be back to the GC!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
I want to save £14k by September 2012 - this is our main focus
Buy our own house
Be more sensible with our money; no unecessary taxis, only eat out once a week maximum
Master my sewing machine
Make at least 20 homemade gifts for people in the year
Learn to drive (!)
Do more batch cooking0
