Can I repair my toaster?

Ok
I've a Delonghi toaster, a silver Argento thingy, I suspect it has a simple fault (the mechanism isn't latching down properly). Having gone to the trouble of obtaining a Torx security screw head (don't ask, they make these things difficult to access in the hope you aren't going to try and repair them).
I now can't get the handle off the lever grrrr - sounds stupid I know. Someone out there must know how to remove the damn thing - brute force isn't working. If I can't get the handle off, I can't open it up, which means it'll have to get landfilled, which is absurd for something 13 months old.
It's one of these btw;

Not sure if this the right board, but it seemed worth a try. TIA for any help.

Just a thought, might save a toaster going to landfill0 -
13 months (ie out of guarantee) no repair agent in my area, replacement parts are available for my model (shockingly) including a handle, so it must come off somehow.I do hope you're telling the truth?0
