House Insurance

Options
Hi,

Can anyone on here recommend me an insurance provider who can quote me for building cover for a property which is rented here in Northern Ireland?

My initial quote for Building Only cover for a detached bungalow was £200 (rebuild value £130,000).

Thanks.

Do you mean you rent it or you are the landlord? If it's as the LL £200 a year really isn't too bad.

    I'm the landlord.
  • I've just got a quote from Finsbury Insurance for £138. Has anyone heard of them? I got their quote by going through GoCompare which passes rentals out to a site called simplybusiness.co.uk.

Does anyone know of them - they do seem to be much cheaper than everyone else, which can be a bad sign...

Look at your level of cover and compare that to similar. Who are the underwriters?
  • Level of cover is similar to the other quotes. Underwriters are Aviva.
    Excess: £250
    Public Liability: £2,000,000
    Building Cover: £130,000
    Accidental Damage: Yes
    Loss of Rent: 20%
    Legal Expenses: No

After last year’s winter (burst pipes) I would probably look to loss of rent. Legal won’t be an issue as long as you have it on your residential. Seriously everyone should have this on their building insurance.

It's not a bad quote. Ring Aviva direct and see what they offer.
  • Loss of rent is not an issue as I rent to a relative whom I trust.
