Is property really a good hedge against inflation? Maybe not

If we have a period of serious inflation, like has happened in various South American nations in the past, such that savings in banks and in cash become almost worthless then property is a good bet.
Of course, it depends on how you bought it: inflation generally means pretty high interest rates, so if you buy with a big loan, maybe not such a good bet, but if you have the cash to buy without a big loan, or any loan at all, it makes more sense.0
